Redistricting plan put on hold in Gloucester

The Gloucester School Board did not act on a proposed attendance zone redistricting plan last Thursday after hearing impassioned pleas from a half-dozen parents during its work session at the T.C. Walker Education Center.  

The board, by consensus, decided to shelve the plan for now and look at it again in preparation for the 2018-2019 school year. By taking no action, the board left in place the current school attendance zones for the 2017-2018 school year.

The redistricting plan, recommended by a committee of parents and school division personnel, would have moved 118 children to different elementary schools and 91 children from Page to Peasley Middle School for the 2017-2018 school year.
