RAL Art Center has two May exhibits

Two new exhibits are on display at the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock, “Art in Transit” and “Fur, Feathers, Fins, and Scales.” Over 116 pieces of art in a wide range of 2D and 3D media are included in the two shows.
Awards were given during the opening reception for “Fur, Feathers, Fins, and Scales,” held on Friday, May 2. Judge Jennifer Schroeder, gallery coordinator at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews, awarded first place to “Nice to Meet You,” a photograph by Jeffrey Barsky. The second-place winner was “Waiting for Spring,” a wearable art fiber work by Barbara Brecher, and third place went to “Be Vigilant,” a mixed media piece by Carol Chandler. There were also six honorable mentions.
A special awards ceremony for the “Art in Transit” show, co-sponsored by Bay Transit, will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 30, at the RAL Art Center, 19 N. Main Street, Kilmarnock.
Both shows will be on display and available for sale until May 31.
