Racist graffiti found at Abingdon Elementary

Dr. Anthony Vladu, superintendent of Gloucester County Public Schools, informed teachers, parents, staff and the community Monday of an incident of racist vandalism that occurred over the weekend at Abingdon Elementary School, as well as the restroom building at Abingdon Park.

Both buildings were defaced with racial slurs, vulgar language and lewd images. The affected property has since been cleaned. Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office is actively leading a criminal investigation into the matter.

Racist graffiti was previously reported at Peasley Middle School, Page Middle School and Gloucester High School in January. In light of these events, Vladu said the district is remaining vigilant and periodically checks school properties each day.
