The Gloucester County School Board completed its acceptance of public input last week regarding the search for a new school division superintendent and is now advertising the vacancy. Current superintendent Ben Kiser has announced he will retire on July 1. 

The board held two public hearings to take comment on the qualifications, experience and qualities county residents desire in a new administrator for Gloucester schools. The board heard from two speakers during the March 11 public hearing and from three during the March 19 hearing.

The board also conducted a survey seeking public input, which had to be completed online or by hard copy by March 20. Betty Jane Duncan, clerk for the board’s superintendent search, said 440 surveys were received.
