Work on the 2024-2025 Mathews County Public Schools’ budget, which began last month with a preliminary overview, will begin in earnest next week with a second budget work session at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Brooks Auditorium at Thomas Hunter Middle School before the board’s regular monthly meeting at 6A public hearing on the budget will be held at 6 p.m. the following Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the same location, with another work session to follow.A joint work session with county supervisors will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, with adoption expected at the school board’s regularly scheduled Feb. 20 meeting. After that, the adopted school budget will be delivered to the county for consideration by the Mathews Board of Supervisors.
