PRLGA ladies win at Kingsmill; Piankatank course holds Labor Day tourney

Eleven women from the Piankatank River Ladies’ Golf Association joined a total of 128 competitors in a Virginia State Golf Association Play Day tournament on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 3-4 at the Kingsmill Resort Golf Club in Williamsburg. The tournament consisted of a four-ball stoke play event on the River Course and a scramble event on the Plantation Course.
In four-ball stroke play, Kim Crannis-Curl (Providence Forge) and Martha Wiggs (Hayes) placed first in the fourth flight with a 79 (gross) and Christy Pitts (Deltaville) and Nina Carter (Gloucester) placed second with an 81 (gross). Christi Lewis (Hartfield) and Chrystal Welch (Urbanna) placed first in the fifth flight with an 84 (gross).
In scramble play, in the third flight, Becky Crannis-Curl (Providence Forge) and Vicky Gunn (Cobbs Creek) placed first with a 72 (gross) and Martha Wiggs and Judy Spain (White Marsh) placed second with a 75 (gross). In the fourth flight, Christy Pitts and Nina Carter placed first with a 75 (...
