The Piankatank River Ladies Golf Association held its annual championship tournament Oct. 7-8 at the Hartfield course. Twenty-one members participated in the 36-hole tournament on two beautiful fall days.

Top winners were Nina Carter (overall gross) and Chrystal Welch (overall net). Winners by flight were:First flight—Regina Custis (first gross), Gloria Matthews (second gross), Christy Pitts (first net) and Judy Spain (second net).

Second flight—Lisa Lavery (first gross), Bobbie Stuck (second gross), Kim Harris (first net) and Ann Stanley (second net).

Third flight—Chong Hudgins (first gross), Donna Lange (second gross), Carol Sennott (first net) and Lynne Richardson (second net).

Golfers getting closest to the line were Christy Pitts (first flight), Ann Stanley (second flight) and Bev Hudgins (third flight). Those awarded closest to the pin on Wednesday were Vicky Gunn (first flight) and Donna Lange (third flight).
