As the August opening date for the Mathews Family YMCA preschool nears, the entryway of the facility, located at Westville Baptist Church on Main Street in Mathews, has been transformed, thanks to Dr. Alexander Wilson and Dr. Anne Leddy Wilson, at right, with the help of Jonathan and Jesse Monastyrly, from left. Avid horticulturalists and local experts in ornamental landscaping, the Wilsons developed a landscape design curated for the young preschoolers to enjoy as they enter and depart the facility, said a press release, with flowering shrubs and thorn-free holly trees. Nestled in the garden setting will be benches for parents and children to enjoy while on the preschool grounds. The preschool is now enrolling children ages 2-4 years, with extended before-and-after school hours for working parents. Financial assistance and DSS subsidy are available.
