Preparedness Expo

Six-year-old Addie Coleman, above, affixes a sticker received from Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue to her shirt with the help of her grandmother, Eva Coleman, during the Gloucester Department of Emergency Management’s annual Preparedness Expo held Saturday in the Home Depot parking lot. The Gloucester Community Emergency Response Team operates the event with the county every year. Below, CERT volunteers from left, Jim Pike, Billy Gandee and Deputy County Administrator Steve Wright serve free hot dogs to passersby during the expo. Those attending the free event were able to receive a wealth of preparedness information from multiple local and state agencies, and learn how to keep themselves safe during the upcoming hurricane season.
