Polar Plunge to be held Saturday

The fifth annual Mathews Polar Plunge will be held on Saturday morning at Haven Beach in Diggs, beginning at 8 a.m.

The event is a fundraiser to raise money for Amy Ashberry’s missions, including packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, global mission trips, and helping local families in need. People are invited to sign up to participate in the plunge, or sign up to pledge to make a donation.

Those who are brave enough will make a $10 pledge to make a dive into the frigid water. Participants will be in and out of the water in a few short minutes. Those who cannot muster the courage can make a donation. There will be a donation bucket at the beach that morning.

Donations can be made by cash, checks payable to Amy Ashberry, venmo (@amyashberry), cashapp ($amyashberry), paypal (paypal.me/amyashberry), Facebook Pay, Apple Pay or Zelle. If you are participating in the plunge, you can also encourage others to donate to show their support, a release stated.
