Poetry contest open to area high school students

The Gaithersburg (Maryland) Book Festival invites high school students in the region, including Virginia, to submit entries for its poetry contest.

A notice said poems should reflect themes of isolation and/or community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The deadline for submissions is Feb. 18. The contest has a number of rules which can be found online by searching Gaithersburg Book Festival Poetry Contest.

Prices of $250, $100, $50, and a $25 gift certificate will be awarded, the notice said.
