Playground donation

Gloucester County Parks, Recreation and Tourism and Parks Partners, Inc., have received an $8,000 donation from the Gloucester STAR Program to help with construction of an all-inclusive playground at Woodville Park in Ordinary. The STAR Program was established in 1995 and has since provided children of Gloucester with mental or physical disabilities an outlet to participate in T-ball, soccer, basketball and a variety of other camps and activities. The program name stands for Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Attitude and Respect and teaches children these core values. The all-inclusive playground will include a poured rubber surface, and accessible features including a merry-go-round, swings and climbing apparatus. The playground installation will be completed later this fall. Here, STAR Program coordinator John Coats presents the check to Gloucester PRT director Katherine Legg.
