Plans moving ahead for Gloucester shopping center expansion

Developer Bob Kubicki announced Friday plans to add approximately 200,000 square feet of retail space at Fox Mill Center located just south of Gloucester Court House. Clearing of the sites might begin in the first quarter of 2015 with construction to follow soon after.

Kubicki said he is working with a number of companies that might occupy space in two distinct sections of the center. He said approximately 120,000 square feet of retail space is planned in a grassy area behind the Ruby Tuesday restaurant, while approximately 80,000 square feet will be added just north of the Verizon store.

The individual companies will make their own announcements when they are ready, Kubicki said. But he offered a few teasers:

—A new restaurant is expected to be built along with a row of retail stores near Verizon;

—A “junior anchor” store, with 25,000-30,000 square feet, is being sought for the section behind Ruby Tuesday; and,
