Planners approve rezoning for York River Crossing parcel

The Gloucester County Planning Commission approved a rezoning request for a portion of the York River Crossing Shopping Center, Hayes, during a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 3 in the colonial courthouse.

Applicant Billie M. Millner, an attorney who has residences in Newport News and Mathews, spoke on behalf of applicant Hayes Development Co., L.L.C., to rezone that portion of the shopping center from B-3 (Office Business) to B-1 (Business). Most of the center is already zoned B-1.

Millner and planning staff said that apparently a portion of the large center had inadvertently been zoned as B-3 a number of years ago and that a change to B-1 would allow that section of the center on the south end to accommodate uses that could be in the rest of the center.
