Page students learn tennisfrom Kingsmill pro

QuickStart Children of Virginia board member and Director of Tennis at Kingsmill Davy Hairston led a tennis class in the physical education program at Page Middle School, a QCV release stated. Over the course of 15 sessions, Hairston worked with 180 sixth and seventh graders and PE teachers David Lutz, Todd Mikanowicz and Anna Nelson. Last year, QCV held a training session for all PE teachers in Gloucester. “I had a great time working with the Page Middle schoolers in their gymnasium,” Hairston said. “I introduced them to tennis with age-appropriate racquets (provided by USTA), portable nets and foam balls from Kingsmill as an alternative to their usual PE programming. “Page’s PE teachers were wonderful partners in this initiative that highlighted the principles of partnership, respect, and ownership while enjoying the sport for a lifetime,” he added. “I’d love to do this again.” “What a treat for these kids to get to learn from an experienced tennis professional like Davy,” QCV founde...
