Organ recital Saturday at Abingdon Church

Organist Katelyn Emerson will play at 4 p.m. on Saturday, in the Arts at Abingdon series at Abingdon Episcopal Church, 4645 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester. In addition to being an organist, Emerson is a lecturer and pedagogue who has been hailed as “one of the world’s most promising organists,” according to Listvinafelag Hallgrimskirkju, an Icelandic arts society. Internationally known in North America, Europe, and Asia, Emerson has given performances described as “thrilling from beginning to end” by Cleveland Classical, which said she showcases repertoire from the 14th–21st centuries with “impressive technical facility and musicianship.” Prizewinner of competitions on three continents, Emerson garners acclaim from listeners who are new to classical music as well as audiences of organ aficionados and colleagues for her “beautifully designed programs,” said Orgues du Canada.
