Orchestra to perform holiday concerts

The Courthouse Community Orchestra will perform a series of free holiday concerts in Gloucester and Mathews in early December.
Under the direction of SSgt. Jarrett Kocan, the orchestra will play an eclectic program of light classical music, German dances, Broadway songs and old Christmas favorites such as “Sleigh Ride.”
Highlights of the program will be a “Hanukkah Festival,” a strings-only performance of “O Magnum Mysterium,” and the raucously fun “A Mad Russian Christmas.” There will also be a Christmas sing-along.
Performances are on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. at Newington Baptist Church, 6169 Main Street, Gloucester; Sunday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1860 Hayes Road, Gloucester Point; and on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. at Cobbs Creek Arts Center, 61 Cobbs Creek Lane, Cobbs Creek.
A press release said that donations “are always appreciated.”...
