All courts, county offices, libraries, and DMV customer service centers in Gloucester and Mathews will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday.

In addition, circuit courts in both counties will also be closed on Thursday, Dec. 26, and the Mathews County treasurer’s office will also be closed on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 26 and 27.

Gloucester County Schools will be closed from Monday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Jan. 3, returning on Monday, Jan. 6.

Mathews County Schools will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, and will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Waste facilities in Gloucester will close at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day, while the Mathews County Transfer Station will be closed a half-day on Tuesday and all day Wednesday.

ABC stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.

Post offices in both counties will be closed on Christmas Day only. ...
