Nobuntu to perform at Arts at Abingdon concert

Nobuntu, a female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, will perform at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Oct. 30, at Abingdon Episcopal Church, 4645 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester.
This Arts at Abingdon concert is free of charge, with a free-will offering accepted. No reservations are required.
Nobuntu, currently on a 24-city tour in the U.S., has drawn international acclaim for inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel, said a press release. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalist percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and authentic dance movements.
“The singing group is a new generation of young women who celebrate and preserve their culture, beauty, and heritage through art,” said the release.
