No Kings Day

About 150-200 people gathered in front of Mathews Parks and Recreation on Saturday morning to take part in No Kings Day, a series of more than 1,500 nationwide events held in opposition of what organizers view as the increasing authoritarianism of the Trump administration and to counterprogram the military parade being held that evening in Washington, D.C., marking the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. The peaceful protesters waved their anti-Trump signs at motorists passing by on Buckley Hall Road; a couple pro-Trump counter protesters were also present, but there were no reports of trouble. Back in April, a similar protest against Trump and his policies, part of a nationwide “Day of Action” protest, was held in front of Liberty Square and drew about a third of the crowd that turned out for this most recent protest.
