No hitter

Blue Devil pitchers Danny Hogge and Dawson Adams, from left, combined to earn a 3-0 no-hitter victory over Westmoreland High School in last Thursday’s varsity baseball game. Hogge pitched the first five innings, struck out six and walked one to get the win, while Adams came on to pitch the sixth and seventh innings, walking one batter and striking out six to earn the save. Offensively, Aidan West went 3-for-4; Colin Moore and Thomas Hubbard both went 2-for-2. The Devils were handed a setback on Tuesday, falling 13-2 to King William. Mathews was leading in that game, 1-0, going into the top of the fifth inning, with Adams notching five strikeouts and holding the Cavaliers hitless. Then disaster struck with King William scoring eight runs. Mathews had one error, two passed balls, one wild pitch and one walk that contributed to the eight runs.
