No confirmed cases in Three Rivers Health District

Three Rivers Health District Population Health Manager Lisa Laurier said on Tuesday that there have been no confirmed cases yet of COVID-19 in the area covered by the district, which includes all localities on the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.

Laurier said that she doesn’t know how many people in the Three Rivers District have been tested for COVID-19, since some are conducted through the state lab, some through private labs, and some through doctors’ offices. Reports for all tests eventually go to the state lab, she said, but they are only reporting when the test results are completed.

Tests for the virus are running low at the state lab, she said, but more are expected. Two private labs in Virginia are now able to test for the coronavirus, as well, she said, LabCorp and Quest.

People who are not feeling well and suspect they may have the virus should contact their doctor’s office, said Laurier, but they should call in advance and discuss their symptoms with the doctor...
