New staff joins Mathews Pharmacy

Mathews Pharmacy has several new staff members, including a pharmacist and two certified pharmacy technicians.

Christy Brown, a pharmacist who owns the business with her husband Wayne, said that Samantha Howlett of Dutton is the new pharmacist. She has worked at Mathews Pharmacy since she was in 10th grade at Mathews High School and is a May graduate of the Bernard Dunn Pharmacy School at Shenandoah University in Winchester.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for me,” Howlett said. She will fill prescriptions and deal with customers’ medical questions, while Brown said she will handle some prescriptions and turn more toward the business side of running the pharmacy.

Lynette Glockner, who has worked at the store since 2009, is the other pharmacist on staff.
