New physician joins Riverside Partners in Women’s Health

Elizabeth Lunsford, the new obstetrician/gynecologist at the Riverside Partners in Women’s Health practice in Gloucester, sees her work there as part of a lifelong mission.

She became interested in the field when she volunteered at a free clinic in the New River Valley while studying for her bachelor’s degree at Virginia Tech.

It was there, Lunsford said, she decided that she wanted her life “to be used to help people and be a blessing to them. I thought the best way to affect somebody’s life in a positive way and see results was to go into medicine.”

Also, Lunsford said her decision to help people evolved from Christian missions she participated in to China and to several other countries. Lunsford, who earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, said she decided to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology in order to “make a difference” in women’s lives.
