The Mathews-based basketball team, the Dream Warriors, claimed the National Travel Basketball Association’s 2025 Boys’ National Championship 11th/12th Grade Boys’ Gold Bracket competition, which was held July 14-19 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Dream Warriors went 2-1 in pool play, and got a measure of revenge in the championship contest by defeating the only team they had previously lost to, the Powerhouse Warriors, 61-51, on Saturday to claim the national title.
