NAMI Homefront offers vets help coping with PTSD

Courtney Mottesheard of Gloucester, knows what it’s like to suffer from PTSD. The Vietnam War veteran spent three tours of duty in country, then returned home to find he was at a loss to deal with life stateside.

After 40 years of suffering silently, Courtney is finally coming to terms with his post-traumatic stress disorder and wants to help other veterans and active duty personnel. He will be assisting his wife, licensed therapist Sandy Mottesheard, with NAMI Homefront, a class designed to help military family members understand what their loved ones are going through.

It will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Oct. 7 in cooperation with DAV Chapter 58 at the chapter building on Professional Drive in Gloucester.
