The Mathews Volunteer Fire Department Open House that was scheduled for this past Sunday was canceled because of the impending weather and will be held instead this Sunday, Oct. 19, from 2-4 p.m. at Station 1 on Brickbat Road.
The public will be able to view all of the fire apparatus, including the fire boat; pick up fire prevention materials for children; have a hands-on session with various items of fire equipment; and get a look at the plans for the new Station 1 that is being built in the former Boys & Girls Club on Church Street.
Those interested may also get information about joining the fire department and/or the Marine Incident Response Team.
Light refreshments will be provided by the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary....
