MVFD East River Fest returns July 5

The Mathews Volunteer Fire Department will host its second annual East River Fest on Saturday, July 5, at Williams Wharf Landing (off Williams Wharf Road) in Mathews.
Gates will open at 11 a.m. for the boat docking event, and the MVFD will start admission to the fireworks show at 6:30 p.m. ID will be required so organizers can receive proof of age with wristbands provided so you may re-enter if needed; anyone 21 and over will get a different color bracelet.
This year’s event will host some of the fastest boats on the Chesapeake Bay. There are also two deadrise workboats going head-to-head with an all-female crew; one boat from Mathews County and the other will be from Maryland.
A wide variety of food and refreshment vendors will be on site, including Howard-Dooley’s Café, Turnt Teas, Two Salty Chics, Jus Catchn Up, Polar Snow Va, On the Flip Side, Small Town Burgers, Captain Harrells Seafood, and Maddy Mays Grazing and members of the MVFD will be serving ice cream.
