Jo-Ann Letchworth and her husband Mark bought the Mathews hardware store Moughons Inc., an Ace Hardware store, located at 40 Main Street, in 2018.

They have carried on the tradition of this old store, which got its start in 1946 as Sutton & Kline, striving to provide hardware, animal feed, home goods and home décor, fresh produce and seafood. “We are a unique store with a hometown nostalgic attitude,” she said.
For Jo-Ann, the biggest challenge was learning the hardware business. To balance that, “My biggest triumph has been the success of the home décor products I have brought into the store.”
Born in New Jersey, Letchworth grew up in Virginia Beach. Before Moughons, she had a successful hair salon in Kilmarnock and restaurant in Mathews. She said, “I was born for sales and love our customers.”
