MOC to host Islander Regatta June 28; object is to paddle around Gwynn’s Island

The Mathews Outdoor Club will host its 2025 Islander Regatta on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 8 a.m. This annual event invites paddlers of all skill levels to circumnavigate Gwynn’s Island in a non-motorized craft.
The event begins and ends at The Islander Hotel. Participants will paddle counter-clockwise around the island, navigating through Milford Haven, the Chesapeake Bay and the Piankatank River.
With the cooperation of local homeowners, two rest stops will be set up along the shoreline. There will be water and other refreshments available for participants on their nine-mile journey.
After the regatta, paddlers are encouraged to enjoy entertainment and music provided by Hunter Owens until the event concludes at 1 p.m.
The Islander Regatta is supported by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 66 and volunteer boaters from Mathews County, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
