Mites’ record at 1-1 following loss to Back River

The spring season for the Gloucester Youth Football and Cheer Leader League is underway. The Gloucester Mites fell to the Back River Panthers with a score of 38-12 Saturday, bringing the GYF Knights’ record to 1-1. Gloucester’s win came over Smithfield on March 27.

GYFCL president Michelle Ailstock gave game MVP honors to Zayden Pluim and Drayden Pluim. Zayden gained 160 yards and scored two touchdowns while Drayden led the defense with tremendous effort, said Ailstock.

Other players Ailstock noted were Brantley DeSalvo, Aziah Pluim and Nehemiah Greene for their offensive performances respectively. On defense, Ailstock applauded Aubrie DeSalvo and Jaxsyn DeSalvo.

For the cheerleaders, Ailstock said the two girls that were given Most Spirited were Faith Belvin and Aniyah Cook. Best Technique went to Neaveh Clements and Aubrey Wright.

The Knights will look to bounce back next week when they face Poquoson.
