Middle Peninsula Regional Airport receives $24,000 grant

The Middle Peninsula Regional Airport was recently awarded a $24,035 grant, part of more than $6.54 million in grants announced last week by the Virginia Aviation Board which will fund 40 projects across the commonwealth to improve 27 airports and the services they provide.

The money going to the regional airport off Route 33 in the King and Queen County community of Mattaponi will be used for pavement repair (runway, taxiway, fuel farm, apron, parking lot and hangar).

The airport receiving the most funding in this award cycle was Danville Regional Airport, which was awarded more than $1.1 million for taxiway and hangar site development projects.
