The Middle Peninsula Regional Airport will receive $790,000 in federal funds over the next five years, part of nearly $400 million awarded to airports throughout Virginia, according to an announcement made on Nov. 24 by U.S. Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine.
The funding represents Virginia’s share of $15 billion in direct grants to airports expected around the country as a result of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act approved by Congress and signed into law on Nov. 15 by President Biden.
The Middle Peninsula Regional Airport, a 5,000-foot runway, is located in Mattaponi in King and Queen County. The airport is governed by an authority with members representing Gloucester, King and Queen and King William counties, and the Town of West Point.
