The Mathews High School wrestling team secured three victories in a quad match held last Wednesday at King William High School, defeating all of their competitors on the night. Mathews opened the competition with a successful match against King and Queen High School, earning a final score of 59-18. The match included a technical fall victory recorded by Jayden Boyd. In their second match, the Blue Devils competed against Westmoreland High School, concluding the bout with a 58-12 win. Aimen Suthard contributed four points by a major decision to the team’s point total during his match. The final match saw Mathews take on the host team, the King William Cavaliers. Mathews secured the win, 61-12. Ten of those points were two technical fall victories from Salvador Cardenas and Jacob Johnson. The three team wins gave the Mathews team a perfect record for the evening’s competition.
