Tryouts for the Mathews High School varsity volleyball team will be held Monday, Aug. 1 through Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. each day in the MHS gym, according to coach Pat Moughon.

Any athlete in ninth through 12th grades is eligible to try out for the team. Junior varsity tryouts will be held Aug. 1-5. Girls who do not make the varsity squad and are in the ninth or 10th grades are still eligible to play jayvee; girls in the eighth grade are also eligible for JV.

In order to participate in tryouts, athletes must have a completed physical on file with the trainer. In addition, athletes and their parent/guardian must have attended a concussion awareness session with the trainer. The next session will be held on July 28 (time to be announced). Check with MHS athletic director Paul White for details.
