The Mathews High School girls’ tennis team travelled to Lancaster’s home courts at Indian Creek Country Club last Wednesday and brought home a big win. The final score for the match was 6-3, with a lot of amazing contests played by the Mathews girls. In singles, number-one seed Lyla Duff had a nail-bitingly close match, besting Mckenzie Pittman, 8-6. The numbers three, five, and six singles players each delivered dominant 8-0 victories, not conceding a single game. Number three seed Rayann Helbig had a great victory against Vonica Murhead. At number five, Delaney Boatman played Mielle Wolfe and also had a tremendous 8-0 win. Charlotte Bailey, playing number six, played a strong game and won against Angelina Smith in another 8-0 win. Emily Moughon played a great exhibition match against Sarah Jane bringing Mathews another 8-0 win.
