The Mathews High School softball team was scheduled to enter post-season play yesterday. The second-seed Lady Devils received a bye in the opening round of the Region 1A tournament, which began Monday.
Mathews advanced to Wednesday’s semifinal game, which began at 5 p.m. at MHS, against either Northumberland or Essex, with that winner playing for the regional crown.
