Mathews High School was one of 66 high schools across Virginia that received the Stay in the Game Award for the 2024-2025 season, according to the Virginia High School League.
The award recognizes those schools that did not have a player ejection during the fall, winter and spring sports seasons. Other local schools receiving this designation included Middlesex and King and Queen high schools, according to the VHSL.
