The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team ended its 2025 regular season on a strong note, posting wins over Northampton, Essex and Charles City.
Last Thursday, the MHS girls traveled to Northampton High School. After Mathews won the first set, the host Yellow Jackets tied it up, winning the second set. Mathews fought back to take the win, 3-1.
Hannah Davis served a total of six aces. Nora Suthard followed closely behind with four. There were many solo blocks, including Suthard with two and Addy Lowe with one. Carter Hayes and Suthard led the team in kills, with eight each.
On Monday, the Mathews Lady Blue Devils traveled to Essex High School. Mathews swept the Lady Trojans, 3-0. The scores of the match were 25-10, 26-24 and lastly, 25-14. Addison Griffith led the team in aces, serving seven. Hayes had 10 kills, and there were four solo blocks total. Hannah Davis, Abigail Ramsey, Suthard, and Hailey Love all had one each.
