The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams took the course at Beaverdam Park last Wednesday. The boys placed first with a score of 19 points, while the girls came in second with a score of 36 points.
Crossing the finish line first for the boys was Chance Higginbotham with a time of 16:53 and not far after was Blake Hunley with a time of 17:03. Next for the Devils were Jon Jenkins (with a time of 18:03), Adam Greve (18:44), Dominic Winters (18:53), Ivar Golden (19:02), James Allen Morgan (20:31) and Lincoln Williams (24:06).
For the girls, Paige Morris led the way for the Lady Devils with a time of 22:37 and coming in right after was Elizabeth Moore with a time of 22:38. Next for the Lady Devils were Morgan Stearns (with a time of 24:30), Kylee Swanson (25:23), Jordan Sadeg (25:40), Keira Cannon (26:37), Gracie Hellenbrandt (JV) (26:47), Lyla Duff (26:57), Rayann Helbig (29:17) and Grace Keel (30:52).
