Meeting next week on Battle of the Hook project

A public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, in the Gloucester Library’s Community Room, Main Street Center, to discuss an upcoming Parks, Recreation and Tourism project to identify locations associated with the Battle of the Hook.
Fought in lower Gloucester County, the 1781 battle was one of the largest cavalry battles to take place during the American Revolution. The project is grant-funded through the National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program.
The project will include inventory research and documentation to identify possible locations of engagement for the battle. South River Heritage Consulting has provided a strategy for preservation planning.
