The timely arrival and quick action of a driver for Ambrose Disposal Service saved the life of a Mathews resident.
On the morning of May 6, a woman was out gardening in her backyard at North when she began experiencing chest pain. Pamela Anderson’s daughters had been trying to get hold of her that morning, but said she hadn’t been answering her phone.
Losing her husband a few months prior, Anderson was living alone and only managed to make it to her back porch, where the Ambrose Disposal Service driver found her.
Anderson’s family says she doesn’t remember much after the pain began, but Kenneth Marshall Jr., a substitute driver on the route that day, said he found Anderson on her porch, calling out for help. Anderson and her late husband had a contract with Ambrose for backyard service, leading Marshall to collect the trash from the yard, rather than the end of the driveway.
