Mathews runners win Tidewater District

The Mathews High School cross country team placed first at last Friday’s meet at Beaverdam Park, securing its win in the Tidewater District. The girls’ team has won the Tidewater District meet for 11 consecutive years and the boys’ team has won for four consecutive years, which is 13 wins out of the last 14 years.

The MHS boys won the meet with a team score of 24 and competed against King William, Middlesex and West Point. The Mathews girls beat King William with a score of 21. The Middlesex and West Point girls’ team had to forfeit the meet due to not having enough players to compete as a team.

Cameron Stearns took first place in last Friday’s meet with a time of 16:50. Next for Mathews was Landon Green with a time of 17:57, Josh Rosadino with a time of 18:01 and Seth James (JV) finishing at 18:54. Andrew Greve ran a 19:43, followed by Carson Brown (20:07), Brian Robinson (20:13), Grayson Camp (20:51), Dylan White (21:38) and Noah Hurst (JV) (22:28).
