Mathews resident R.W. “Rob” Palkovics has published his first book, “Behind the Ropes: An Entertaining and Informative Look at the Security-Event Industry.” Offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on large events such as sports games and concerts, “Behind the Ropes” examines how events are planned and assets are protected, said a release. The book focuses on leadership, responsibilities, and the “memory-making business.” A Richmond native who spent over 25 years with the Henrico County Police Department before becoming the training and compliance director for the Mechanicsville-based staffing company RMC Events, Palkovics said that he has been teaching, coaching, and instructing for 40 years in collegiate athletics, law enforcement, and private security. “The energy, excitement and environment that create memories do not happen by accident,” he said. “Let me take you ‘behind the ropes’ as a VIP … Along the way, we will meet and learn from some amazing people.” Palkovics enjoys golfing...
