The Mathews County Holiday Night Market and Tree Lighting will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, with stores remaining open until 7 p.m., followed by the tree lighting on the Court Green.
Carolers will be strolling the brightly decorated streets, which will be lined with decorated storefronts and windows, and restaurants will be “serving cozy winter dishes,” said a press release.
Children will be able to participate in a scavenger hunt at the stores, receiving a treat at each stop, and stores will have punch cards for visitors to enter a raffle for a family-oriented gift basket. The winner will be announced at the tree lighting.
As the stores close, people will start gathering around the tree on the Court Green for more caroling, as well as cups of hot chocolate. The lights will be turned on, said the release, “and if the children are lucky and have been good all year, they may get a glimpse of Santa Claus.”...
