The Mathews Museum will host a new show, “The Art of the Quilt,” when it reopens Friday, Sept., after two months of renovation.
The show is sponsored by the Mathews Bay Quilters Guild, and will display full-size quilts, table runners, and wall hangings in styles reminiscent of the 18th and 19th centuries to contemporary.
It will include the raffle of a patriotic quilt donated by a guild member. The raffle, to be held during Mathews Market Days, is open only to veterans and to surviving dependents of deceased veterans, a release said. Raffle tickets are free, one to each person; winners will be named during Mathews May Faire 2026.
The show will also include a special exhibit of quilts that were displayed in February at the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show held in Hampton.
The exhibit will remain on display through September. The museum is located at 200 Main Street in Mathews Court House.
