Mathews Main Street Committee discusses upcoming projects

The Mathews Main Street Committee held a business meeting on Tuesday, July 25 at Central United Methodist Church, discussing ongoing and upcoming projects the committee is working on.

The theme of the meeting was “Christmas in July,” said a press release, with those attending dressing in holiday attire and enjoying a breakfast that included ham biscuits by Mary Chapman and yogurts and pastries courtesy of Food Lion.

Vice chair Carolyn Taylor gave a brief review of Main Street’s ongoing projects, said the release. These projects include the annual children’s Howl-A-Palooza Party and costume parade; the Markets on Main events jointly organized by the Bay School, the Mathews Visitors Center, and the Main Street Committee; the Farmers’ Market; the Main Street streetscaping and hanging baskets maintained by the committee; and the Main Street Enhancement project.
