U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Mathews Flotilla 66 presented a boating safety class on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad in Hudgins.
Three students received their lifetime Boating Education Certificate satisfying the State requirements that all operators of personal watercraft and motorboats of 10 horsepower or greater pass an approved boating safety education course.
The course, titled “Boat Virginia-A Course in Responsible Boating,” is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources covering topics as the nautical rules of the road, the legal requirements of boating, what to do in an emergency, and safe operation of a personal watercraft.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the all-volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard.
