Mathews Community Foundation hosts annual appreciation reception

With 125 guests in attendance, the Mathews Community Foundation celebrated significant advances in its mission of improving the quality of life for those living and working in Mathews.
This year’s reception, held recently at Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church on Lovers Lane, featured remarks from donors, business partners and grant recipients. More than 45 area nonprofit organizations received nearly $200,000, including $34,000 going to aid teachers at Mathews County Public Schools. An additional grant of $55,000 was awarded to the Mathews Family YMCA to help offset operating expenses its new preschool program, which is scheduled to begin in the fall.
“We are grateful to each of our generous donors and to grant recipients who are making a huge impact for good in our community,” MCF chair Bill Whitley said.
