The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on a proposed ordinance to change the location of the central absentee voter precinct and to open it for use during all elections.

Currently, the absentee voter precinct is at Lee-Jackson Elementary School, and it’s open only during general elections. The proposed amendment would move the precinct to the conference room adjacent to the voter registration office in the administration building on Brickbat Road and would make it available during primary elections, as well.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the board expects to hear a report by Lewie Lawrence on the Middle Peninsula Chesapeake Bay Public Access Authority’s projects, including the status of the proposed Mathews Heritage Park.
